LIFE WITH INVISALIGN
Overall Advice on Wearing Invisalign Aligners
3. Consider carrying around a small dental care bag
It is useful to have a small bag with you that may include: your aligner case, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, and chewie.
4. Remember to clean your aligners
Your aligners need to be cleaned as often as your teeth. You can just rinse them and use a toothbrush with toothpaste. You can also soak your aligners in a cleaning solution once a week. You will receive full cleaning instructions when you first get your aligners.
5. Aligner foam cleaners are particularly great for coffee drinkers
If you often worry about how coffee stains the teeth, you can use aligner cleaners that have a white minty foam to dispense in your aligners just before you put them on again. It comes in a small bottle you can carry with you.
6. Hold on to your previous set of aligners
Keep the last set of aligners in their small zip lock bag in case you lose or break the current set. Make sure to let Dr. Patil know if this happens.
7. Enjoy your oral hygiene!
Your teeth and aligners are going to be very well brushed! These oral hygiene habits may take a little time to get used to, but your teeth and gums will thank you and your smile will be all the more beautiful.
8. Follow the 22 Hour Rule
Remember, it is important to wear your aligners about 22 hours a day. This should become easier as you progress. Take them out only to eat, drink (anything other than water), and brush your teeth.
9. Expect to change aligners every two weeks
You don’t have to worry about getting your braces adjusted, as you change the aligners on your own. But keep up with your appointments with Dr. Patil to progress and finish in a timely manner.
10. Look forward to a healthy, beautiful smile!
1. Use Aligner Chewies
You should perform the chewing exercises once or twice a day for the first 2-3 days of each new set of aligners. This will help your aligners to fit and better move the process along.
2. Change aligners at bedtime
New aligners can be a distraction during the day. Give yourself a night’s sleep with new aligners, and you will feel more comfortable with them by the first morning.
